I was lurking around on facebook and saw a post that made me giggle. One of my friends said that her husband has what he calls "friend purgatory".
What is friend purgatory?
When someone requests your friendship and you just leave the request hanging out there. You don't NOT ACCEPT it, because then you will show back up on their suggested friends list and the cycle will continue.
If you leave them in friend purgatory, then you don't have to deal with a duplicate request later.
It's kind of genius, really.
I can't believe I never thought of that. I just friend anybody I know and then block them.
I know I just totally stole the idea of friend purgatory and put it on my blog so I would seem clever. Does that make me a bad person? I don't think so. I think it's more like a public service announcement.
And, btw, this friend's husband? I don't know him, but I might just friend request him so that his friend purgatory gets bigger......which leads to this question: how many purgatory friends does it take to make you an official snob?

profiling
There are several types of people on facebook.
People who have pictures of just themselves as their profile pic.
People who have a picture of their kid as their profile pic.
People who have a picture of their whole family as their profile pic.
People who have a picture of a cartoon or something like that as their profile pic.
I mostly fall into the category of the "whole family" pic.
Here's why:
I do not have any pictures of just me. I just cannot bring myself to stand in front of my bathroom mirror and pose for a picture. I don't have the ability to stretch my arm out and take a picture of my face. (not without having 4 more than my normal triple chin.)
In my brain, if I post a profile pic of just myself, it's like hey, look at me, this is an awesome picture of myself. It's better to have a family pic. For one, it makes me look smaller, which is really not true, but that's what I think. Also, it makes me think that people will not look at me because they are looking at my hubby and cute little daughter.
But I must admit that I admire those who have the single person photo of themselves. They are generally the beautiful people of the world. I'm pretty sure most of the notasbeautiful people have profiles pics of their kids, the whole family, or a cartoon. Myself included.
This may or may not be true, but it's a theory that could be looked into if you were so inclined.
I'm not so inclined. I'd rather just think I am right with no basis whatsoever.

Fool Me Once, Shame on You
If one of my facebook “friends” posts song lyrics as their status, it bothers me.
My rule is, lyric me once, I’m irritated.
Lyric me twice, I’m angry.
Lyric me three times, you get blocked.
But then again, if you were my real friend, and not just a facebook nosy person who is an acquaintance, you would know that. And also, my real friends would never post song lyrics or it would not be possible for us to be friends in the first place.
I think that blocking is the way to go here. I rarely unfriend because clearly, someone who posts song lyrics may at some other time post something really hilarious that I might want to go check out and secretly make fun of. I have other real friends who will let me know when these events happen.
This way, since I have only blocked the person and not unfriended them, I can avoid the unnecessary song lyrics but I still have the benefit of the hilariousness of facebook.
And with that said, let me close with these words...."Did you ever know that you're my hero? You're everything I wish I could be. I can fly higher than an eagle...for you are the wind beneath my...." oh wait, I hate that word. See my post from yesterday. (I'm not swift enough yet to put the link here.)
